About Sheila, GCDF, PHR

Sheila Clemenson is the Owner and CEO of Transitions Coaching Services LLC, and a Certified Career Coach and Consultant with over 20 years of experience in hiring, coaching, and advising job seekers, employees, and management in diverse industries. Sheila helps people define, create, and refine how they express their careers, vocations, and callings as they experience life’s transitions. She brings inspiration, energy, and enthusiasm to her clients, leading them along the path to their next big opportunity. She offers strategies, resources, and tools to help clients express their life’s work experiences while maximizing their strengths.

A challenging journey through grief and loss

Sheila was inspired to support others moving through transition after her experience as a caregiver for more than four years for her first husband, Grant Christianson, who died at 36 years of age in 1999 from Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), and her challenging personal journey in rebuilding her life thereafter.

Sheila graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Industrial / Organizational) from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1991. She spent approximately six years working in Human Resources in the automotive industry. Sheila’s life changed dramatically when her fiancé, Grant, was diagnosed with ALS in 1995, only three months after he had proposed to her. Their touching story, Our Secret Beach,  was a non-fiction short story prize winner in a Redbook Magazine contest in 2000 and can be read by clicking here.

As Sheila discovered her new single life, she managed Grande’s Gems jewelry stores on Kauai and began a retreat business for caregivers in Hawaii called Healing Palms of Kauai, Inc. Further realizing her calling to help other caregivers several years later, she moved back to the mainland to help her mom build a “homecare for seniors” franchise called Visiting Angels Assisted Living in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Sheila Clemenson, Career Coach

Coming full circle with her life’s work

While Sheila trained as a life coach with The Coaches Training Institute in Denver in 2005, she discovered that her passion and true calling were in coaching others. She moved to Denver, where she started her own grief wellness coaching programs, helping clients to rebuild their lives personally and professionally through loss. Adding more tools to her belt, she attained a certification as a Grief Recovery Specialist from The Grief Recovery Institute in 2006.  Her own inner healing journey eventually led Sheila to her new husband, Shawn Clemenson, and a new life in Louisville, Colorado where she loves hiking and skiing in the mountains.

While Sheila was building her coaching business and writing her caregiving memoir, the stock market crashed in 2008.  She decided to return to her first passion in Human Resources at Boulder Community Health for a more stable income and work life. During the next nine years, Sheila grew professionally in HR with full life cycle hiring responsibilities as a Human Resources Advisor and Talent Acquisition Specialist. Sheila’s HR knowledge and diverse background made her a valuable resource for employees, hiring managers and executives throughout the organization. Professional growth and increased expertise in HR and Career Development have been her priorities over the last few years. She earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in 2015 and her Global Career Development Facilitator certification (GCDF) in 2018.
